a sumptuous little souvenir volume issued to mark the visit by eighteen French warships to the Solent in August 1905. bound in full navy blue lambskin decorated in gilt, with silk-cloth end-papers and a coloured chart printed on silk cloth, displaying the positions of the British and French fleets. also included in the back pocket are a stiff paper version of the same chart, and a printed programme of events. the binding is just a little rubbed, but a very nice copy 019 098

a scarce collection pf papers relating to the naval theatre of the war with America between 1812 and 1815. the first collection of nine papers, ordered to be printed 9th & 10th February 1815, mostly relate to the campaigns on the Great Lakes, the second collection, 10th February 1815, relate to the protection of British merchantmen from attack by American naval ships and privateers, and the third collection, 13th February 1815, contains petitions addressed to the The Prince Regent on the same subject from merchants and shipowners in Liverpool, Glasgow, Port Glasgow & Newark, and Greenock. the final single-page return of 12th May 1815 lists the ships that sailed for the North American Station between April and June 1814, together with the numbers on board. 019 018 707
